After the initial still life, we were tasked with drawing another fruit/veggie, only this time using four different techniques. This helped us further our control watercolor paints and pencils.

Two of our first tasks for the water color unit was practicing different techniques that would aid us in the rest of our projects in watercolor, and practicing how to use value in 9-step value charts and establishing light sources and shading with four objects.
Through experimenting with different patterns on a landscape and on objects, we were able to get a better understanding of value, contrast and how to wrap patterns.
After completing numerous worksheets of copying and learning patterns, it was our turn to come up with one hundred unique patterns to use later in our projects for this unit.
In class we learned how to copy motifs to make patterns, and experimented with making our own motifs and patterns on the last worksheet.
As a part of our pen & ink patterns unit, we had to complete four nine-step value charts to develop and learn contrast and depth.
Our first assignment was to draw a tree, animal, street scene and hand to show our initial skill entering Art 2, and will hopefully be an assessment to look back to and see improvement.
